Experience
I began teaching in 2008 under the direction of my cello professor at Converse College. Since then I have taught children as young as 8 to advanced players. I have the technical ability and musical love to train and nurture students of all abilities and ages. Music is a part of who I am and it has enriched every aspect of my life. What better way to share my love for music then to pass it along to my students?
Methods
For beginner I use both the Suzuki method and the Essential Elements books. As my students advance, scale and etude books are introduced. Solo repertoire, like Bach’s Solo Cello Suites for example, are hand picked for each student according to their progress.
Teaching Style
Every student, whether child or adult, learns differently and I adjust my lessons accordingly. I use scales and exercises to build the foundation of good technique. By supplementing appropriate solo repertoire, technique is being reinforced and musicianship is being cultivated. Having my students pick a piece or popular song they wish to learn along with what I assign keeps them involved and motivated.
All lesson are taught in my home studio located in Apex, NC. I am currently accepting new students. Please contact me for availability and pricing.
